About Sadichchha

Serving children with intellectual disabilities since 1981

The 2011 Census of India shows that 2.21% of our population has some kind of disability. A majority of these individuals come from rural areas or urban slums, where illiteracy, poverty, ignorance, and unemployment create major barriers in accessing rehabilitation programs.

Recognizing these challenges, eminent citizens of Kalyan such as Dr. D. A. Sant, Prof. Ashok Pradhan (Ex VC YCMOU), Shri Prabhakar Sant (Ex MLC), Dr. Nirmala Diwadkar, and Dr. Suresh Eklahare came together to form "Sadichchha" in March 1981. Since then, the organization has been dedicated to improving the lives of children with intellectual disabilities.

Our Journey

In 1985, Sadichchha started a government-recognized school for intellectually challenged children on a small plot provided by the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation.

Due to limited space, it became difficult to provide integrated and multidisciplinary care. Determined to improve facilities, we sought a larger space and were granted a 2700 sq. metre plot on a nominal lease.

The New Beginning

We have recently moved into a new facility of approximately 13,000 sq. ft., designed to offer comprehensive care and support to children with intellectual disabilities.

Our institution currently serves around 90 students from Kalyan and nearby areas such as Kon, Ambivali, and Diva.

Who We Serve

The children we support have a range of conditions including Intellectual Disability, Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and Epilepsy. Most of them come from economically weaker sections of society.

Our Vision for the Future

We aim to provide integrated, multidisciplinary care through a dedicated team of professionals including Special Educators, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Developmental Paediatricians, and experts in Yoga, Arts, Music, and Sports.

Our goal is to help every child realize their full potential, become independent, and lead a dignified life.
